You may have guessed that Strasburg is not your typical baseball betting rookie. He was the first player taken overall last year in the baseball betting draft after putting together one of the most impressive college pitching careers in decades. But underneath all the hype and the $15 million in guaranteed money Strasburg is just another 21-year old trying to make the ball club.

The expectations on him are high. But they may not be unrealistic. He has velocity and accuracy and has looked good in his limited throwing sessions as a National. Some scouts predict immediate greatness, maybe even being on the opening day roster. More realistic predictions seem to be that he could use some polishing in the minors but almost everyone expects him to be called up sometime this year and making an immediate impact for the Nats.

While its certain that Strasburg won’t be leading Washington a World Series any time soon, with a few years of pitching under his belt, the idea might be all that farfetched.
