Baseball Betting – Big changes bring big hopes for the Twins

Minnesota TwinsPerhaps no other city in America loves spring like the good folks of Minneapolis. After months and months of a seemingly endless winter spring is a welcome change in climate and it also ushers in the baseball betting season. The Minnesota Twins play in one of the smallest and one of the best markets in all of baseball.

The fans love their Twinkies and the Twins have repaid their loyalists’ affection with uncommon success in the MLB odds for a small market team. And entering this seasons’ baseball betting season the Twins and the Twins fans’ expectations are running at an all time high and for good reason.

After winning the AL Central last season with an 87-76 record in the MLB odds the team is even better this season. Not only do the Twins have the reigning AL baseball betting MVP on their roster (Joe Maeur) but he’s as healthy as he’s ever been and should be able to even improve on his gaudy stats (.365 BA in 2009).

The team has also loosened the purse strings and was one of the most active teams in the MLB odds free agency market, increasing the team’s payroll from $65 million in 2009 to just under $100 million for 2010. The team brought in infielder Orlando Hudson to help at the plate and in the field and the signing of Hall-of-Famer Jim Thome gives this team some much needs punch at the DH position.

But perhaps the biggest change and the most exciting aspect of the upcoming season is the opening of the Twins new stadium. For the first time in the franchise’s history they will be playing in its own, baseball only outdoor stadium.
